Book Design and Self-Publishing Support
Robert Nurden is an author and journalist who has worked, both as a feature writer and subeditor, on the Guardian, Independent on Sunday and Daily Telegraph, as well as many other national newspapers and magazines. He had an idea for a unique book: part memoir and research piece on childless men, and approached me to work on an empathetic design and to hold a safe space.
created a cover and interior design that respected the sensitive content. The design avoided bias through careful use of typography and ligatures, and the interior pages allow space for images and the challenges of print-on-demand. I supported Robert with loading the files to KDP and IngramSpark, provided book launch material and spoke at the book launch at the Storyhouse venue in Chester.
It was a joy to work with Robert, whose manuscript just flowed as you would expect and to be part of a team that brought these important words to life.
