AI Policy

AI must be used with care since it has a carbon footprint, quality and legal issue.

AI is not used in the creation of content, illustrations or images. Here’s the ground rules:

1. Be transparent about any AI use

Hello Lovely Design and Co will clearly inform the client in the offer or messages and explain in what parts, if any, AI will be involved. It’s very unlikely in work made by Hello Lovely Design and Co, but third-party apps inevitably have AI use that’s beyond my control - Canva, social media platforms etc.

2. Deliver original and licensable work

According to UK Copyright law, images generated exclusively by AI are not eligible for copyright protection. That means any AI-generated elements must be sufficiently modified or recreated to ensure the final result is copyrightable and legally exploitable by the client. As such, gen-AI filters are switched off.

Clients wishing to have images sourced using generative AI would be asked to confirm this request in writing, and the risk of copyright infringement will be their responsibility. At the time of writing, only one image provider allows AI to be used for commercial gain.

3. Client use of Hello Lovely Design and Co work and AI

LLMs scrape original work and reuse it which is a breach of copyright. Whilst in production, I ask that no files are submitted to AI models such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney etc. at any time for any reason. Once the invoice is paid, then you may do so, but I strongly advise that you do not so as to protect the integrity and bespoke nature of your work.

I advocate for original artistry and craft, and will always recommend that people use people for a unique and accurate creation. That’s what sets Hello Lovely Design and Co apart. I always recommend limiting AI use to early concept development and ensuring that the final design looks clearly distinct from any AI-generated material.

As always, I’m just an email away if you have questions.
